PAINTSVILLE, Ky. (EKB) – While drunk-driving arrests are a common occurrence, it’s not every day that a grown man catches a charge on a little girl’s pink-and-white bicycle.

According to EKB News, police were called to Paul B. Hall Regional Medical Center after a man allegedly refused medical treatment and walked out of the hospital. Upon leaving, police say the man stole a woman’s purse which contained her prescription.

Around 3 a.m., a Paintsville Police officer spotted the man — 53-year-old Michael Jennings, of Paintsville — riding a little girl’s pink-and-white bicycle the wrong way down Main Street.

After stopping him, the officer found the bag of items taken from the hospital and noted the man smelled strongly of alcohol. The man reportedly admitted that the prescription in the bag was not his, and also said that the bicycle had been stolen from a little girl in the neighborhood.

Jennings was charged with DUI, theft of a bicycle, and possession of a forged prescription. He remains lodged in the Big Sandy Regional Detention Center.
