JESSAMINE COUNTY, Ky (LEX 18) — Over Memorial Day weekend, a Lowe’s store in Nicholasville had people sign a picnic table with special messages to our veterans. On Thursday, the store donated the table to the Thomas-Hoos Veterans Center in Wilmore.

"There are people out there that care about us, and that makes a big difference," said Marine Corp. Veteran Christopher Hepp.

The hundreds of messages of love and gratefulness, reminding the veterans who walk the hall that they aren’t alone.

“The Vietnam era veteran was basically seemed to be the ‘non-welcomed home’ and this kind of makes up for that, we were lost and wandering around," said Hepp.

The picnic table was donated by Lowe’s in Nicholasville. They had customers signing it over Memorial Day weekend.

"This is just a way for us locally, to bring it to Jessamine County. And say thank you, to the folks that have given us our freedom and that’s something we shouldn’t ever take for granted," said Lowe’s Store Manager Logan Allen.
