PIKE COUNTY, Ky. (EKB) – Kentucky State Police were called to a shooting in a rural Pike County community. As it turns out, it wasn’t the first time they had been called to the home.

According to East Kentucky Broadcasting, last June, David Adkins was arrested for shooting his brother. He was initially charged with attempted murder, but a grand jury later dropped that charge to second-degree assault. Three months ago, he pleaded guilty to fourth-degree assault and was released on a 12-month suspended sentence.

David Adkins is once again in jail, and once again he is charged with shooting the same brother a second time.

The incident happened around noon Thursday at a residence on Peter Fork. Police say Kevin Adkins was shot and was transported to the hospital in a private vehicle.

According to Kentucky State Police, the motive for the shooting is unclear at this time.

David Adkins was arrested and charged with first-degree assault. He remains lodged in the Pike County Detention Center.
