KNOX COUNTY, Ky. (LEX 18)– Two people have been arrested after sheriff’s officials received a report of someone stealing electricity. That report lead to the discovery of a stolen lawn mower.

On Tuesday, deputies responded to the residence in question on KY 1304 in Hinkle.

Officials say after they arrived at the residence, a deputy observed the meter had been removed and two metal “butter “knives had been inserted in the contacts.

29-year-old Mathew Anthony Standafer was arrested and charged with Theft of Services. He was lodged in the Knox County Detention Center.

According to a release form sheriff’s officials, Standafer had previously been charged with Theft of Services on May 28 for stealing electricity at the same residence.

While at the residence, the deputy said he observed a new pull behind DR Mower that he recognized as one from another investigation that was allegedly stolen during the burglary of a residence on Valentine Branch Road on May 9.

Standafer was additionally charged Wednesday with Receiving Stolen Property-under $10,000.

His mother, 47-year-old Sheila Brock, was arrested Thursday and charged with Receiving Stolen Property-Under $10,000 in connection with the stolen lawn mower.

She was lodged in the Knox County Detention Center.
