SPARTANBURG, S.C. (WYFF) — A South Carolina woman’s break-in is now serving as a cautionary tale to others getting ready to leave on vacation.

A woman told police that her home was broken into after she posted on Facebook that she was leaving town, according to a report from Spartanburg police.

Police told our sister station WYFF that they were called Sunday to a home on Charlesworth Avenue about a burglary.

A woman who lives at the home said she posted on Facebook that she was leaving for the weekend. When she returned home she discovered someone had broken in and stolen several items, including two televisions. The police report said that a glass pane had been broken out of the back door of the home.

It’s a reminder that you should avoid posting about your location if you are not at home.
