Dog Distracts Driver, Causes Injury Crash On Cumberland Parkway

PULAKSI COUNTY, Ky. (LEX 18)– One person is injured following an accident Monday night on the Cumberland Parkway.

It happened around 11:57 p.m. approximately 8.4 miles west of Somerset.

Officials arrived on the scene, just east of the Nancy exit, to find a semi involved in an accident, leaving it on its side in the median.

According to the statement from driver, Charles Sutherland of Saltillo, Mississippi, he became distracted by his dog and left the roadway. The truck overturned and came to rest in the median. He was transporting a load of onions.

EMS treated the Sutherland at the scene for facial lacerations and arm injuries. He was transported to Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital for further treatment.

The dog did not sustain injuries in the accident.
