MADISON COUNTY, Ky (LEX 18) A Lexington man is behind bars after being accused of stalking his ex-girlfriend in Richmond.

Around 8 p.m. Sunday, neighbors called police, saying that they noticed a suspicious man walking up and down the streets.

Within minutes, police cruisers filled the area and Richmond Police quickly arrested 65-year-old Peter Horine. He was booked in the Madison County Jail on charges of stalking, wanton endangerment, and sexual abuse. His arrest citation said he was hiding in the bushes and he was there to spy on his ex.

Horine said he was waiting for his ex-girlfriend to finish talking to a neighbor. The citation said when officers first made contact with the woman, she told them she broke up with Horine months ago after she suspected he was drugging her food.

Police said Horine admitted on Sunday that he added extra Ambien to the victim’s food four to five different times. He did not deny this when LEX 18 spoke with him.

Horine told LEX 18 that he is embarrassed and he is sorry.
