LOUISVILLE, Ky (WAVE 3) A pedestrian killed in a crash involving a bus headed to the Kentucky Oaks has officially been identified.

The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office said that 50-year-old James Oberacker died of multiple blunt force injuries, according to WAVE 3 News.

The crash happened on the morning of May 4.

Oberacker lived in the area and had just left the Stop and Save Food Mart when he was hit by the bus while on the sidewalk.

Lt. Col. Josh Myers of the Shively Police Department told WAVE 3 that a blue vehicle swerved because another vehicle was waiting to make a turn. The Miller Transportation bus swerved to avoid the blue vehicle and hit Oberacker.
