LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18)– Every year on the summer solstice, the Alzheimer’s Association hosts their event "The Longest Day." It is apart of Alzheimer’s and Brain Awareness Month.

According to their website, "The Longest Day is all about love. Love for all those affected by Alzheimer’s disease. On the summer solstice, team up with the Alzheimer’s Association and select any activity you love — or an activity loved by those affected — to help end Alzheimer’s. Together, we will raise funds and awareness for care and support while advancing research toward the first survivor of Alzheimer’s."

They also encourage people to take the Purple Pledge to support the 47 million people worldwide who are living with Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias.

To learn more about The Longest Day or to start a team, contact them at wvinfo@alz.org or call the 24/7 Helpline at 800.272.3900.
