KANSAS CITY (Kansas City Star) The Kansas City Star is reporting that fashion designer Kate Spade’s father, Earl F. Brosnahan Jr., known as Frank, died Wednesday night at the age of 89.
A statement from a family spokesperson was released to the paper at 2:58 p.m. on Thursday, which was just minutes before the funeral for Kate Spade. Spade was found dead from suicide on June 5 in her apartment in New York City.
The statement sent to the paper said that Brosnahan had been in failing health and was heartbroken over the death of his daughter. The statement also said that he was home and surrounded by family when he died.
Spade’s funeral was held in Kansas City Thursday.
