Suspect Arrested Following Murder Investigation

LEITCHFIELD, Ky. (LEX 18)–  Kentucky State Police are conducting a murder investigation after finding a man who was shot to death Wednesday.

Around 10:13 p.m., KSP was contacted by the Leitchfield Police Department requesting assistance with a death investigation on Lashley Street.

Through the investigation, detectives say they were able to determine that an unidentified male victim had been shot multiple times and was transported to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

According to a press release, Grayson County Dispatch was later contacted by 39-year-old James Garrett and he stated that he had shot someone at his residence.

Garrett was located near the residence by officers with the Leitchfield Police Department and taken in for questioning.

He was charged with Murder, Tampering With Physical Evidence, Possession of Firearm By Convicted Felon, and Robbery.

Garrett was lodged at the Grayson Co. Detention Center.

An autopsy has been scheduled for Thursday at the State Medical Examiner’s Office in Louisville.
