BEREA, Ky. (LEX 18) – Friday marked five years since a Madison County teen disappeared after attending a party.

18-year-old Brookelyn Farthing was last seen at a house in Berea. She texted family members saying she wanted to come home, but would catch a ride with a friend. Brookelyn’s sister also said she sent a few messages saying she felt "unsafe."

The homeowner told investigators he left the home and that when he returned, the house was on fire.  Despite many extensive searches throughout the years, Farthing’s disappearance is still a mystery after five years.

Officials say some of Farthing’s things were inside of the home but the teenager was nowhere to be found. With no new leads, the investigation has stalled.

On the third anniversary of her daughter’s disappearance, Farthing’s mother said she prays daily for Brookelyn to come home.

"We pray to God every day for that special person that’s gonna give us, the wow factor of  ‘oh my God, we have a lead. We’re gonna go get her,’" said Shelby Walker. "And we pray to God every day that when we get her that we have her alive."
