LEE COUNTY, Ky. (LEX 18) – Governor Bevin held a public forum in Lee County Saturday afternoon, answering any and all questions from community members.

Dozens attended the meeting in Beattyville, asking the governor what he plans to do about healthcare, how Lee County can expand tourism, And a teacher brought up the lawsuit against the governor’s pension bill.

The focus of economic development within the state is a topic that Bevin is pushing for especially in places like Beattyville, comparing it to the rural town he grew up in.

“It’s the same thing I hear about everywhere. People want jobs, they want opportunity. They want a chance for their children to maybe go away and get an education, but be able to come back home again. I’m trying to create an environment where they can invest in our communities and create companies and jobs, so the next generation of children can come home again,” said Governor Bevin.

People who attended the event were thankful for the governor’s time, and how open he was to answering their questions.
