LAUREL COUNTY, Ky (LEX 18) – A woman led officers on a chase from Tennessee to Kentucky before she was apprehended in Laurel County, according to the Laurel County Sheriff’s Office.

Abbie Kent, 35, of Lowden, Tn., was allegedly driving a stolen SUV when Tennessee Highway Patrol attempted to pull her over, according to a release from the Laurel County Sheriff’s Office.

Kent failed to stop, the release says, and continued to drive on I-75 into Kentucky.

The chase ended near Boone Avenue in Laurel County when the vehicle got stuck near railroad tracks, the release says. Kent then began to run on foot, the release says, and jumped into a nearby river before she was apprehended by Laurel County deputies.

Kent is being held at the Laurel County Detention Center on charges including operating a motor vehicle under the influence, receiving stolen property and fleeing of evading police.
