Mircoburst Suspected Cause Of Damage To Taylor County Homes

TAYLOR COUNTY, Ky. (LEX 18)– Emergency management officials say a storm swept through Southern Taylor County may have been a microburst.

It happened around 4 a.m. Sunday 6.5 miles south of Campbellsville, from New Columbia Road to Soles Chapel to the Green River Marina.

Emergency management says the microburst cause destruction to one concrete block garage and heavily damaged another at the onset of the storm. The straight line winds traveled east, taking the tops of of several trees before damaging three houseboats docked at Green River Marina. One houseboat lost the third deck while the another lost its top canopy and another a glass window.

There have been no injuries reported. 

Emergency management estimates the microburst had winds of 80 to100 mph
