(Bowling Green Daily News) — U.S. Sen. Rand Paul of Kentucky has filed a civil lawsuit against the neighbor convicted of assaulting him last fall.
The Bowling Green Daily News reports here that Paul’s suit was filed Friday in Warren Circuit Court. The commonwealth’s junior U.S. senator is seeking unspecified damages against Rene Boucher, who tackled Paul on Nov. 3 as he mowed the lawn in their exclusive Bowling Green neighborhood.
The assault left Paul with cracked ribs and pneumonia.
Boucher eventually was charged with assaulting a member of Congress, a felony, to which he pleaded guilty. He was sentenced earlier this month to 30 days in jail and a $10,000 fine.
