(NBC News) Kentucky Senator Mitch McConnell and his wife, transportation secretary Elaine Chao, were confronted by protestors Tuesday as they left an event in the Georgetown area of Washington D.C.

A video was posted to Twitter, showing protestors questioning the Senate Majority leader as he was getting in his SUV about his support of the Trump administration’s zero-tolerance immigration policies. One asked, "why are you separating families?"

Chao was seen telling protestors, "leave my husband alone."

So far, no one from McConnell’s office or Chao’s office have commented on the incident.
