Laurel County Parents Arrested For Cigarette Burns Found On Baby

LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. (LEX 18) – Two Laurel County parents have been arrested after their baby was allegedly found with infected cigarette burns on her body.

Laurel County Sheriff’s Office responded on Friday at 10:33p.m. for a complaint that social services was investigating at apartments 9 miles south of London.

The sheriff reports that a 13-month-old girl was taken into protective custody after an investigation by doctors and other authorities revealed that the baby had infected cigarette burns on her backside.

The girl was treated at St. Joseph’s Hospital in London and later transferred to UK Medical Center.

The child’s biological parents, Jessica Mae Sams, 26, and Thomas Lee Tollon, 26, both of Corbin were reportedly arrested and charged with criminal abuse.

They were taken to the Laurel County Detention Center.
