GARRARD COUNTY, Ky.  (LEX 18) – Parts of central Kentucky were impacted by flash flooding brought on by heavy rains Sunday afternoon and evening.

In Garrard County, emergency personnel responded to reports of a car stuck in water near the intersection of Highway 954 and Copper Creek Road.

Reportedly a woman and her 5-year-old son were trapped in the driveway, and some witnesses had to help them get out of the car.

When authorities arrived the woman and son had made it out of the car safely, and the vehicle was said to still be in good condition.

Then over in Boyle County, the National Weather Service reported that a family had to be evacuated from their home in Junction City due to flooding.

Luckily, the water receded quickly after the rain ended, according to officials.

A number of LEX 18 viewers sent in photos of some streets flooded in those areas.

There are some chances for storms on Monday as the hot and humid weather is expected to continue into the work week.
