HARRISON COUNTY, Ky. (LEX 18) – A Harrison County family is grieving Saturday night after a man was killed in a car accident on Wednesday.

"He was a great guy. He was the one man I could always depend on," said Laura King, talking about her father-in-law.

Ricky King was Laura’s father-in-law of two years.

On Wednesday, Ricky’s son, Jacob, was driving on Newtown Pike in Scott County.

They were on their way to a job, when a deer ran into the road and they swerved.

"My father-in-law ended up having two of his vertebrae fractured causing him to be paralyzed from the neck down," said Laura.

Laura’s husband, Jacob, was taken to the hospital with minor injuries, but Ricky died the next day at UK hospital. Now the family is grieving the loss of a man who they say would do anything for anyone.

“Even if it meant all hours of the night and he didn’t get to sleep for days, he would do anything. He was a really great guy," said Laura.

Ricky grew up competing in arm wrestling competitions, and his friends remember him for that.

He even officiated competitions in the Cynthiana area, something his son wants to take over.

“He was pretty convinced he could beat anybody in the world. That he was the best one, and he passed that mindset to his son too," said Laura.

But the one memory Laura says she will never forget, is their wedding day. She’s never seen Ricky so happy and so proud.
