Lexington Offers Safety Tips For Fourth Of July

Lexington Emergency Management offers some information about celebrating the July 4 holiday safely, especially if you choose to celebrate with fireworks.

Remember that in Lexington, “if it goes up, or blows up” it’s illegal to sell or set off.

While sparklers are legal, they are the #1 source of July 4th fireworks injuries. Sparklers burn as hot as a welding torch. Second degree burns are likely from misuse.

Here are some good guidelines for using sparklers from the American Pyrotechnics Association – they’re professionals
