LAWRENCEBURG, Ky. (LEX 18) – A two-time cancer survivor is going to get a long overdue vacation.

Sharon Bickers and her husband Tommy, of Lawrenceburg were just out for a joy ride on Saturday when they stopped at Liberty Shell Mart in Liberty.  Sharon decided to purchase a $10 Xtreme Cash Scratch-off ticket.

The couple claimed an Xtreme Cash scratch-off worth $125,000 this morning at Kentucky Lottery headquarters.

“Something just told me to get that ticket.  I don’t usually buy those kind, the longer play,” said Sharon.

Her husband said it was a long ride back to Lawrenceburg, she said.

“She was hollering and screaming, I was trying to drive,” Tommy said.

“We stopped to check the ticket at a Kroger and the clerk said, ‘it says to claim at lottery so yep, it’s definitely a winning ticket,’ so I grabbed it back.  I had I already signed the back of it, I knew to do that, first thing,” Sharon told lottery officials.

Sharon says the couple plans to pay off their house and some bills and put the rest in the bank since she plans to retire in a few years from Buffalo Trace.  Once she was handed her check, she also added that the two plan to take a vacation.
