LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18) – If you saw about one hundred balloons flying overhead in Lexington early Sunday evening, there’s a reason why.

The family of Tyler Williams released them after holding a vigil in his memory.

On July 1st of last year, Williams was shot to death in Lexington, and his killer is still unknown.

Sunday night, friends and family members came together to share stories about Tyler, and to express their concern that Lexington’s homicide rate is no better than it was a year ago, when Williams was killed.

“It seems like this is happening every day, every week.  That doesn’t make it any easier, but it’s like somebody was saying, this is a club that nobody wants to belong to, that’s for sure,” said Jackie Shannon, Tyler’s Grandmother.

Jackie said she remains hopeful that her grandson’s killer will be found, and justice will be served.
