Police Arrest Man After Finding Loaded Gun In Trash Can

LINCOLN COUNTY, Ky. (LEX 18) — A deputy made a shocking discovery after he attempted to throw something away at a gas station in Stanford.

According to officials, Deputy Michael Mullins pulled into the Stanford Valero. He noticed a man who appeared to be intoxicated. The man walked away from the trash receptacle. When the Deputy walked over to throw something away, he noticed a loaded handgun.

The deputy made contact with the suspect and he admitted to putting the gun in the trash due to being nervous. He also admitted to using meth earlier in the day.

A total of 6 grams of meth and an undetermined amount of cash was confiscated.

The suspect was being held in the Lincoln Regional jail and charged with trafficking, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and tampering with physical evidence. His identity has not been released.
