LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18) – Fayette County Schools have announced the date of the public hearing for the proposed 5-cent property tax increase to benefit local school safety.

The Comprehensive 10-Point Safety Investment Plan has been moved to Wednesday, July 18. The hearing will be at 5:30 p.m. in Conference Room C of the school district offices, which are located at 701 East Main Street.

Superintendent Manny Caulk’s plan includes hiring 50 more law enforcement officers and 37 new counselors for schools. The property tax increase would cost the average homeowner about $88 a year, depending on their property value.

The hearing will be open to the public.
