LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18) – Lexington firefighters worked in the summer heat to knock down flames at a house in Lexington Sunday afternoon.

Reportedly the fire broke out on Todds Road at a farm house believed to be built in the 1700s.

When firefighters arrived, the home was engulfed.

Firefighters had to deal with additional challenges while battling the flames, including summer heat and a limited water supply.

Fire officials say two people lived there but they weren’t inside at the time of the fire.

No injuries were reported, but a firefighter had to be checked out for heat exhaustion.

The home is a total loss and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
