SOMERSET, Ky. (LEX 18) – Sheriff’s officials in Pulaski County are making the public aware of another possible scam targeting local citizens.

In this scam, the perpetrator will send an official envelope from the United States Postal Service. Inside there is a letter with a list of instructions and a check for a few thousand dollars. The scammers will ask the victim to cash the check, send them the money and inevitably, the check will be fake and the victim will have lost the money.

The elderly are often the most vulnerable.

The sheriff’s office also warns people to be aware of people asking for gift cards, iTunes cards, green dot cards, and prepaid credit cards. ,

If it sounds too good to be true, then it probably is.
