LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. (LEX 18) – London police with the help of a retired Laurel County Sheriff’s deputy helped chase down a suspected bank robber after she tried to flee on foot.

Police responded to an armed bank robbery at Forcht Bank on KY-192 and Cumberland Valley National Bank in the London Shopping Center.

London-Laurel Co. Dispatch described the vehicle as an older model blue van driven by a female with turtle shell sunglasses and a hat. Ofc. Elbert Riley observed the vehicle on Saint Joseph Lane where witnesses notified him of its direction of travel.  Officers arrived on scene at Calvary Baptist Church where the armed female fled on foot. She was apprehended behind the church by London Police and a retired sheriff’s deputy.

The van, as it turned out, had been carjacked earlier in the day. Police arrested Jennifer L. Moore, 49.  Officers say they found $32,264 at the scene.

Moore charged with two counts of robbery in the first degree, Fleeing and Evading Police on foot in the First Degree.
