LONDON Ky. (LEX 18)– The Laurel County Agency for Substance Abuse Policy (ASAP) has recently provided the London Police Department with needle-resistant gloves. The donation allows for three pairs for each officer.

Officials say through a grant, ASAP purchased the gloves to provide a higher level of protection when conducting searches.

While on the job, it is a concern that an officer may be stuck by a needle that could carry not only remnants of a drug, but diseases such as hepatitis C and HIV.

“These gloves are protecting the people that protect us,” said Chief Derek House of the London Police Department. “We’d like to thank Christie Schrader for her continued support of the London Police Department and our officers.”
