BARREN COUNTY, Ky. (LEX 18) – The Barren County Sheriff’s Office says a woman has died after being hit by a car on Friday afternoon.
Reportedly deputies responded to the 8000 block of New Bowling Green Road around 1:15p.m. on Friday.
The sheriff’s office reports Timothy Dick, 54, of Columbia was driving east in a Ford F250 when he saw a woman standing on the side of the road at a mailbox.
Dick told deputies as he got closer the woman started walking across the road, so Dick hit his horn and moved over partially off the roadway to try to avoid hitting the woman.
Reportedly the pedestrian continued across the road and struck the driver’s side of the pick-up.
The pedestrian, later identified as Barbara Goodall, 73, of Smiths Grove, was pronounced dead at the scene by the coroner.
The crash is under investigation.
