Fayette Mall Food Court To Reopen Some Stores Tuesday

LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18) – The Fayette Mall has announced that it will reopen some of its food court after self-closing at the recommendation of the health department.The health department began an investigation after claims that food court employees have been ill, following a situation that began at the mall’s Chick-fil-A location. Multiple workers began calling in sick with gastrointestinal symptoms.A third party is continuing to clean and sanitize the area and all the equipment. Some restaurants will remain closed until they are sanitized. The Fayette Mall released a statement Monday regarding the closure:We are working closely with the Lexington-Fayette County Health Department to address and resolve this issue, Out of an abundance of caution, the decision has been made to close the food court so the following actions can be taken:Clean and sanitize all areas in the food court; including: tables, chairs, corridors, floors, and public and employee restrooms. Clean and sanitize the play area.Individual tenants in the food court will follow the same protocol and be required to clean and sanitize their location.Tenants impacted will remain closed until all areas have been cleaned and sanitized according to the standards dictated by the Lexington-Fayette County Health Department.If you ate at the food court July 17-22 and are experiencing nausea, vomiting or diarrhea, please call 859-231-9791 or email report@lfchd.org to make a report. Be sure to include the following (and remember, you need to email it and NOT post it on here) to help with the investigation:• where and when you ate at the food court• what food items you ate or drank• when you began experiencing symptoms• how many in your family/group became ill (if applicable)• the ages of those who became ill• how long you were ill• a contact phone number where you can be reached.
