Suspect At Large After Wrecking In Lexington During Georgetown Police Pursuit

LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18)– Law enforcement from two counties are looking for a man they say led police on a chase in a stolen vehicle, wrecked, and then fled the scene.Police also  believe he is the suspect in a liquor store robbery in Georgetown.It happened around 6 a.m. at the intersection of South Limestone and Virginia Avenue. According to Lexington police, officers from the Georgetown Police Department were in Lexington looking for a vehicle matching a case they were working on. The vehicle, a red Volkswagen beetle, was spotted in the area of Virginia Avenue and Export Street. Upon running the plates, they realized the vehicle was reported stolen out of Lexington and contacted the Lexington Police Department. Georgetown officers attempted to initiate a traffic stop and the suspect fled.A pursuit ensued and the driver allegedly hit a Georgetown officer and kept going. Police say the car barreled through the intersection of South Limestone and Virginia Avenue where it was struck by a black Tahoe.The driver of the stolen vehicle took off running, leaving two passengers behind.The pair had to be extricated from the vehicle by the fire department. They sustained minor injuries and were transported to UK Hospital.The driver of the Tahoe also sustained minor injuries and was transported to UK Hospital?.Officials are now searching for the driver, who was last seen running toward UK’s campus. He is described as a white male, bald, and wearing a black tank top and dark pants.
