PERRY COUNTY, Ky. (LEX 18)– Officials are looking for answers in Perry County after a call about an ATV crash turned into a shooting investigation.
It happened around 7:30 p.m. on Big Creek Road in Hazard.
Officials say Kelly Darrell Whitaker and Christy Hill were found in the road with gunshot wounds.
Both were airlifted to hospitals due to their injuries.
Upon further investigation, deputies were able to obtain a name of the suspected perpetrator. 45-year-old Christopher Eversole was located at his residence and arrested.
Eversole has been charged with two counts of attempted murder and is currently being held in the Kentucky River Regional Jail.
The road was shut down while investigators were on the scene, but it’s back open Friday morning.
