MARSHALL COUNTY, Ky. (Paducah Sun) – A group of Marshall County High School students, as well as a survivor of the Heath High School shooting, will peacefully protest the Marshall County Republican Party’s decision to have Lt. Col. Oliver North, president of the National Rifle Association, speak at their "Night Before Fancy Farm" fundraiser.

The event featuring North will be Aug. 3 in Lovett Auditorium at Murray State University.

The Paducah Sun reports that Pennyroyal Indivisible and Kentuckians for the Commonwealth are helping with the event. Megan Meyer, one of the Pennyroyal Indivisible leaders, recently posted new details on the event’s Facebook page.

"We have been granted a free speech zone at the Curris Center (at MSU)," she wrote. "We are going to rally and have speakers there from 4-6 p.m."

Hellan Holm, a survivor of the 1997 Heath High School Shooting is expected to speak.
