RICHMOND, Ky. (LEX 18) – Richmond Police were called to a gas station for reports of a suicidal burglary suspect.
Photos showed a situation outside the Marathon in Southern Hills Plaza. Officers had their guns drawn and pointed toward a minivan.
Several LEX 18 viewers called after seeing the heavy police presence, but officials say that the increased number of police is normal for calls such as those. Authorities say they found the suspect and he had threatened to kill himself. The ultimate goal of law enforcement is to have everyone come out safely in situations like that.
The suspect was taken to the hospital for a mental evaluation.
