JOHNSON COUNTY, Ky. (LEX 18) — Herman Webb, the brother of country music stars Loretta Lynn and Crystal Gayle, died Saturday in Ashland at age 83.

An official with Phelps & Son Funeral home confirmed the death to LEX 18.

Webb lived in Van Lear. Funeral arrangements will be held in Johnson County but all other details are pending.

Webb was raised in Butcher Hollow, on of eight brothers and sisters including Lynn and Gayle.

The family left the Hollow in 1955 after a mine closed, but Webb moved back to Johnson County in 1975.

Webb fixed up the family home made famous in the Lynn biopic "Coal Miner’s Daughter."

"And the porch had about rotted off, you know, and I went and fixed it back, leveled the whole house, and put some 2-by-4s in to keep it from falling down," Webb told LEX 18 in a 1998 story about tours he hosted at the home. "I feel like I’m kind of responsible because the fans are what made Loretta, and that’s who’s coming here to see the house. I think it should be here to let them see it if they’re here to see it.”

Webb also ran Webb’s Grocery, which also contained country music memorabilia.
