LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18) — Lexington police were investigating after a west side resident was shot early Sunday morning as she fought off an armed robbery attempt.
Authorities say the incident happened about 1:30 a.m. on Cognac Terrace.
A woman in her 60s told police that she was awakened by a knock at her door. When she answered, she says, two men demanded money. The woman told police that when she tried to slam the door one of the men fired several shots into the house, striking her once.
The woman was taken to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Police are looking for the suspects. Anyone with information about the case is asked to call authorities.
