BEREA, Ky. (LEX 18) — Police arrested a Berea man who they accused of kidnapping a child.
Authorities say 41-year-old John Poynter was arrested Friday.
Berea police say they were called to the 200 block of Glades Road and found that Poynter allegedly took a 6-year-old from a residence.
Police say the child was being watched by a babysitter at the time and that Poynter did not have custodial rights to the child.
Police were able to find Poynter a short time later and took him into custody.
He is charged with kidnapping of a minor and was being held in the Madison County Detention Center.
