HOPKINS COUNTY, Ky. (SurfKY) — A doctor was airlifted to the hospital after he was struck by a vehicle while riding a bicycle.
It happened around 11:30 a.m. Friday on Anton Road near the county line.
SurfKY is reporting that 50-year-old Tudor Popescu, of Hanson, was riding a bicycle westbound, when driver William Mitchell, of Madisonville, apparently struck Popescu from behind.
Mitchell told sheriff’s officials that he was looking in his rearview mirror at a vehicle behind him, and did not have time to stop upon looking ahead, according to the report.
Popescu was taken to Saint Vincent Hospital for treatment of injuries. Mitchell was not injured.
