SAN ANTONIO, Texas (WOAI)– Two people are facing charges after they allegedly stole a shark from the San Antonio Aquarium.

Officials say the suspects confessed to stealing the horn shark, valued at $2,000, and could face felony theft charges.

A third suspect has not confessed, and police are unsure if she will face charges.

Surveillance video showed three suspects scoping the aquarium out, and minutes later, a man stuck his hand inside a tank, pulled the shark out and walked to the back.

The suspects then allegedly disguised the shark as a baby in a stroller.

Police say they were able to use the license plate of the truck driven from the scene to locate one of the suspects.

Aquarium officials weren’t sure if the shark would survive, but officials found her "thriving" in the home. Apparently the suspects had experience working with these animals.

"Luckily the thief was someone who knew what he was doing," said Leon Valley Police Chief Joseph Salvaggio.
