LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18) – Coach Mark Stoops announced that one of his players has been diagnosed with melanoma.

Josh Paschal had some skin removed from the bottom of his foot last week. The lesion came back as malignant.

Coach Stoops told reporters that he wanted to make everyone aware of the situation and that they will stand by Paschal as he undergoes more tests in the coming days.

Paschal, a part of the defensive line, is a Maryland native.

The coach also announced that offensive line coach John Schlarman is also battling an unspecified illness.
