LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. (LEX 18) – The Laurel County Sheriff’s Office has arrested a man who they believe forced his way into a home with two teenagers inside.

Reportedly deputies were called to a home off Blackberry Lane about 5 miles west of London at 12:48p.m. on Saturday for a home invasion.

Deputies says when they arrived they found John Collins, 33, of London unlawfully inside the residence.

Through their investigation, deputies believe Collins entered the home without permission and shoved a dresser in front of a door causing damage.

Reportedly two teenagers were home at the time; a male teenager who hid upstairs and a 14-year-old girl who hid in a downstairs closet and called 911.

Deputies believe Collins was under the influence of some type of drug. He reportedly told them he was running from people who were chasing him.

Collins was arrested on charges of second degree burglary, public intoxication and criminal mischief. He was taken to the Laurel County Detention Center.
