LEXINGTON, Ky (Zumper) According to the website Zumper, Lexington is the third best city in the United States to raise a family.
Lexington received an A rating behind Madison, Wisconsin and Lincoln, Nebraska’s A+ ratings.
Lexington ranked the highest among cities in the South. The city scored well on a number of the economic indicators, like child care and housing costs. It also had low highschool dropout and violent crime rates.
Zumper said they ranked the cities on ten factors, which were equally weighted.
The ten factors are:
1. Cost per additional room
2. Percentage of income spent on rent
3. Percentage of income spent on mortgage
4. Median household income.
5. Current Unemployment.
6. Infant Care Costs
7. Percentage of population under 45
8. High school dropout rate
9. Average commuter time
10. Violent crime rate
