(LEX 18)– We often hear of first responders using the jaws of life to save crash victims, but a rescue Friday evening was a horse of a different color.

It happened on the Western Kentucky Parkway, and Kentucky State Police Post 16 Trooper Corey King tells the story on his Twitter page.

A horse trailer blew a tire, scaring the horse it was carrying into a smaller compartment, where it got stuck.

The horse’s head became trapped and caused breathing issues for the animal.

Once rescuers arrived, they were able to use the jaws of life to free the horse.

King says the horse is fine, having suffered only minor cuts in the incident.
