GEORGETOWN, Ky. (LEX 18) – The man who told officers that "God told me to beat the demon from the woman downstairs" is set to be arraigned Tuesday afternoon.

Hunter L. Moore was arrested last week and charged with murder after police were called to a situation on Markham Drive Thursday afternoon.  The woman who was killed was identified as Denise Rene Hamilton, 53. She was Moore’s caretaker.

Upon arrival, police say that a detective found the unresponsive woman lying on the floor. According to the arrest citation, Moore told police that he was upstairs when God told him to beat the demon out of Hamilton.

Moore stated that he then went downstairs with a baseball bat and hit the woman in the head, arms, and knees. He said he then "attempted to beat the demon from the woman’s stomach". He told police that the woman asked why he was beating her. He said he then took the baseball bat upstairs and that he felt bad for beating the woman.

Police say that neighbors had called law enforcement before to report suspicious activity. Neighbors told police that Moore behaved strangely and erratically.

Moore will answer to a charge of murder around 1 p.m.
