(LEX 18)– Attorneys for the Lexington native accused of killing her boyfriend will begin the trial process all over again Wednesday.
Shayna Hubers’ second murder trial will begin at 9 a.m. in Northern Kentucky with jury selection. It’s expected to take up to three days.
Hubers is accused of shooting her on-and-off boyfriend Ryan Poston inside his Highland Heights apartment back in 2012.
She claims she shot him in self-defense.
In 2015, Hubers was convicted of murder and sentenced to 40 years in prison.
The conviction was tossed when a judge discovered that one of the jurors should not have been allowed to serve, because that person had a felony conviction of their own.
A Cincinnati TV station is reporting that opening statements in the trial are expected to begin Monday.
