LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18)– Police are investigating, after a restaurant was almost scammed out of more than $1,000.
Police say they were called to the Qdoba on Avenue of Champions just after 1 a.m. Wednesday morning.
Employees told them a person called the store pretending to be from corporate.
The alleged scammer told one employee to bring cash to the Walmart on New Circle Road.
The employee left with around $1,000, and that’s when other employees got suspicious and called police.
Officers found the employee before any exchange could take place.
Police tell us they are working to get suspect information, and intend to file theft by deception charges.
