HAZARD, Ky. (LEX 18) – A grand jury has indicted a Perry County man after he allegedly tampered with the food of an assistant police chief.

The indictment says that Joey D. Ritchie knowingly put his ungloved hands in food that he knew was being prepared for Hazard City Assistant Police Chief Joe Engle.

Ritchie was an employee at the Captain D’s restaurant in Hazard. The citation says he put rice into his mouth and then spit the rice back into that serving.

Ritchie is charged with first-degree wanton endangerment and third-degree assault
