LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE 3)– A recruit of the Shively Police Department has been fired over allegations he shared and posted inappropriate things on his personal social media account.

Authorities call the posts on Trenton McDuffie’s Twitter "disturbing and inappropriate".

The posts, dating back to 2016 and 2017, feature homophobic and ethnic slurs.

McDuffie had been at the police academy since july and was on a probationary status.

A spokesperson for the police department says McDuffie admitted to making the posts, calling them a mistake.
