(LEX 18)– Police in Northern Kentucky say a man was caught on camera allegedly trying to scam people by selling fake Kings Island tickets.

Jerome Ruffin says he was working when a man approached him about tickets, claiming to be with a radio station.

The man offered Ruffin VIP day passes for just $10 each.

Thinking he was getting a great deal, Ruffin bought the tickets, only to find out later they were fake.

"I was upset because we were getting them for our family and we were going to have fun but he took the joy out of everything. Not only that he took money from me so it was really a disappointing situation."

Police are investigating the incident, and searching for the scammer.

A spokesperson with Kings Island is reminding visitors to only purchase tickets from its website or an authorized retailer.
